Favini’s path of sustainable development is characterized by both product and process innovations. The aim is to reduce environmental impact and to develop new products which follow a circular economy model.

The data published in 2019 substantiate the reduction in energy consumption, savings in water resources and the lowering of environmental impact in terms of CO2 emissions. Added to these aspects is the attention and research for certified and sustainable raw materials, as well as the commitment to a multi-year project enabling the reforestation schemes and support of the population in Madagascar. Since beginning this path of sustainable development, Favini’s water consumption has been reduced by 40% (2009-2018 period) thanks to the implementation of the closed water cycle system, which allows re-use whenever possible. Favini is involved in monitoring and reducing the emissions associated with its production activities. Since 2009, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 21% with 4,920 t / cO2 eq avoided thanks to the self-production of hydroelectric energy.
Moreover, through the continuous investment in energy efficiency, such as the self-production of renewable energy through its two hydroelectric plants, the installation of high-efficiency lighting and the cogeneration plant, energy consumption has been reduced by 15% since 2009.
Favini is also a supporter of various environmental projects, in particular it supports Voiala aimed at protecting an area of Madagascar. The goal is to plant 150,000 new trees by 2020 in order to restore the island’s forest. Through the Voiala project, Favini helps the community of Sahavondronina and the surrounding villages, allowing them to become a model of sustainable development for other communities on the island This is done by providing training, contributing to the development of sustainable agriculture, facilitating the protection of the forest through planting and strategies that promotes ecotourism.
